C.H. Spurgeon
372 pages
This little gem of a book is a wonderful companion and friend. Here is why. It contains mostly 1-page meditation thoughts gleaned from the lifetime of sermons by C.H. Spurgeon. In them he speaks spiritiual truths with depth and clarity we are not likely to hear again elsewhere. They are diamonds among God's jewels of Truth; forged in Spurgeon's sermons as he ministered to his congregation of The London Metropolitan Tabernacle Church during a time when many of those church members were dying of plague.
TRUTHS LEARNED AMIDST SUFFERING
Under such pressure for his congregants and for his own suffering his insghts became rare and precious through the teaching of the Holy Spirit. The time and circumstances gave authority, strength and validation to Spurgeon's words. I have not found anything else like this. These jewels of Truth were extracted from the sermons and lovingly edited by Roy H. Clarke, a devoted servant of God who loved and admired Spurgeon.
GOD'S TRUTH APPLIED
This book ministers to me like few others. It reads like an eyewitness account of things of the Spirit that I have not yet seen. His total absence of doubt from seeing God's Truths applied in the field and under such adverse conditions is faith strengthening. They are like high-powered spiritual vitamins that can serve to stimulate and promote spiritual growth, and increase greater depth and intimacy in the reader's relationship with God.
